Notification and Procedures

Mission

Mergers and other structural transactions are frequently reported to competition authorities in more than one jurisdiction. The Merger Working Group's Notification & Procedures (N&P) work examines the procedural aspects of merger notifications, and review issues of jurisdiction, timing, the scope of the merger notification and information requirements, and the timing of merger reviews.

Current Work

Since 2002, the Working Group developed Eight Guiding Principles for Merger Notification and Review Procedures (Principles) and issued a set of Recommended Practices for Merger Notification and Review Procedures (Recommended Practices), which the ICN has adopted.

The Working Group continues to promote conformity with the Principles and Practices, including assisting antitrust agencies with implementation efforts or new merger review laws/regulations and holding teleseminars and workshop programs addressing specific issues raised by the recommended practices.
