Communications PlanningA communications plan provides the framework for making an announcement or preparing a public response to an issue. It outlines the goals to be achieved through communicating, the strategy to achieve those goals and the specific tactics. A communication plan can position an organization in the marketplace, set strong and obtainable objectives, and keep messages on target. All communications products should evolve from the communications plan. Early on in major cases at the Canadian Competition Bureau, competition officers work with communications advisors to complete a communications plan. They must consider factors such as target audiences, time lines, and key messages. Here is an example of a Competition Bureau template for
